Lack of Funds Delays Implementation of ₦77,000 Allowance for Corps Members

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusuf Ahmed, has announced that the implementation of the newly approved ₦77,000 allowance for corps members has been delayed due to insufficient funding from the Federal Government.

Speaking on the matter, Ahmed explained, “The funds required for the implementation of the new allowance have not yet been released. This has impacted not only the corps members but also our staff, whose salary increases—approved four to five months ago—have yet to be implemented.”

Disappointed corps members have expressed frustration over the delay, hoping that future payments will reflect the new allowance structure.

The NYSC management is expected to provide updates once the necessary funds are made available.
