Akpabio to push for full Local government autonomy through legislative reforms

The Senate president at an event in Akwa Ibom state after the local governments elections stated his commitment to push for a full local government autonomy through amendments of some laws of the nation through the parliament.

He said “parliamentary actions is needed to align the laws with the recent judgement of the supreme Court ruling that mandates direct payment or funding of the local governments “.

He also stressed that the legislative arm of the government will work assiduously and relentlessly to ensure the law is enforced as he urged them to remain calm, peaceful and law abiding.

Nigerians are of high expectations that the law will stand as fears and concerned has been raised due to the rumors that some governors are trying to sabotage the efforts.
