In a proposal sent to the floors of the chambers of the national Assembly, former vice president Atiku Abubakar proposes a rotational presidency among the regions and also a six year single term for presidency.
He reiterated that ” Such indiscipline by political parties and infidelity to the electoral parameters yield chaos in the system. The above amendments will enthrone the discipline that is needed in a democracy.”
It could be recalled that in 2011, the former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and about 30 other house of representative members called for the same constitutional amendment on terms for presidency in Nigeria.
As Nigerians look forward to the outcome of the proposed Constitutional amendment by the house of assembly, it is hoped that the supremacy of the constitution will be upheld across board .
