The head of media and public relations, Nigeria In Diaspora Commission, AbdurRahman Balogun disclosed in a statement that 17 Nigerians aged 18 to 29 were rescued from Ghana after they were trafficked through false promises of employment while five of the traffickers too were arrested.
Balogun said “This latest rescue operation brought to 130 girls repatriated back to Nigeria from Ghana alone since July 2024”.
The Ghanaian Anti-Human Trafficking police in collaboration with the Nigerians in Diaspora organization Ghana and the Nigerian High commission in Accra collaborated to ensure the repatriation which was facilitated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The chairman NIDCOM, Mrs Abike Dabiri Erewa has commended the efforts and reiterated the objectives of the commission to protect every citizen of the country across every country and promised to fish out and rescue more Nigerians who have been a victim of trafficking.
