Some partially blind students have expressed their excitements of being able to see clearly after years of struggling to see the board and their teachers as they benefitted from free eyecare outreach organised by Women and Girls with Albinism Network.
The outreach which was held at Abuja in commemoration of the 2024 world sight day has benefitted 115 students.
The students who benefitted from this initiative were fascinated at this new development and experience in their lifetime as they have been struggling to have full concentration in classes while studying in school or on their own.
According to a report by News Agency of Nigeria , One of the girls named Rejoice Chinonso , who narrated her ordeal said ” Sometimes, I don’t even see the board or my teacher, but thanks to Women and Girls with Albinism Network in Abuja, I can see clearly now. I feel very happy.Now my academic performance will improve. I really thank the NGO for giving albinism children a chance to focus on their future,”
Another student, Abubakar Usman, a junior secondary school student in Gbazango narrated how a bit cloudy his vision had been until now, saying, “with the help of glasses, I can see my friends clearly.”
The outreach, organised in collaboration with the Public Health Department, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), was sponsored by CBM Global Disability Inclusion emphasizes the significance of clear sight in the process of having a sound education.
