Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Director General of Joint Admissions Matriculation Board advised students and researchers not to depend on Artificial intelligence in the course of delivering their assignments.
He made this call at the 2024 university lecture organized by the University of Ilorin which was titled “Artificial intelligence and the future of Humanities”.
He said ” one of the ethical problems of AI is that it has this potential to embarrass human being. If you don’t know your subject well , don’t go to AI before you start misleading humanity , this is because AI like GPT is quick to give answer and may give answer in a wrong direction”.
He further expressed dissatisfaction over the laziness that the use of AI has caused in the academic sector as he also called on all major stakeholders to ensure that quality learning and research is maintained in the Universities by ethically guiding the usage of AI and incorporation of AI literacy as part of humanity education.
