Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has revealed that his greatest musical inspirations are primarily Fuji artistes, specifically naming the legendary Saheed Osupa as his “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time). The revelation came during a recent conversation with tennis icon Roger Federer in Zurich, Switzerland.
The two global figures met through a partnership with the Swiss sportswear brand, ON, where they engaged in a candid discussion about their respective GOATs. When Federer asked Burna Boy to name his all-time great singers, the “African Giant” did not hesitate in his response.
“My GOAT singers are mostly Fuji artistes like the Fuji legend, Saheed Osupa,” Burna Boy stated directly. This highlights the deep influence of the traditional Nigerian music genre on his own globally celebrated sound.
This is not the first time Burna Boy has paid homage to the Fuji maestro. Keen-eyed fans have previously noted the subtle tribute in the music video for his song “Way Too Big,” from the Grammy-winning album “Twice As Tall,” where a Saheed Osupa CD was visibly featured.
During their chat, Burna Boy also posed the same question to the tennis legend, asking Federer who he considered to be his musical icons. In response, Federer shared a list that leaned towards timeless international classics.
