Nigerian music sensation Asake is facing widespread criticism after a controversial incident at a post-performance meet-and-greet in Paris .
A fan, identified as Zidane Adeoti, took to social media to express his disappointment after the singer allegedly damaged his iPhone 16 Pro Max.
In a TikTok video that quickly went viral, Adeoti revealed that Asake had pushed his phone to the ground and stomped on it, causing significant damage.
Despite the incident, Adeoti maintained his admiration for the artist, posting, “@asakemusic You broke my iPhone 16 Pro Max. It’s not because they pissed off inside the nightclub that you are going to react like that towards a fan. Anyway, I still love you.”
Adeoti’s forgiving stance sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many users expressing outrage over Asake’s behavior. The video, which circulated widely, led to a flood of critical comments, with some fans condemning the singer’s actions as disrespectful and unnecessary.
One commenter described Asake’s behavior as “gutter,” while another questioned whether he would have reacted similarly to a white fan, warning that such an action could severely damage his career.
“People forget easily where they come from. I’m sure Asake at one point wanted to take pictures with celebrities too. How do you treat a fellow human being like that?” one fan lamented.
Others urged the artist to remain humble, reminding him of the respect he owes to his fans, many of whom have contributed to his rise to stardom. “Person way all of una dey promote na him be dat… person way just make am… 30BG for life,” another fan commented, referencing Asake’s supporters.
While some praised Adeoti for his continued loyalty, others were baffled by his reaction, questioning why he would support an artist who had treated him poorly. “’Anyway I still love you’??? Someone treats you like that and… anyways, to each his own. Ire ooooo,” one user remarked.
As of now, Asake has not publicly addressed the incident, leaving fans divided over the controversy. The lack of a response from the artist has only fueled ongoing debates, with many waiting to see how the musician will handle the backlash.
