Destiny Paul Enenche, the daughter of popular Nigerian clergyman Pastor Paul Enenche, has addressed the recent online backlash she faced over her ownership of a luxury handbag. She responded directly to accusations that she was funding a lavish lifestyle with money from her father’s church congregation.
The controversy began when Ms. Enenche was criticized for possessing a luxury item, leading to claims that she was using church offerings to acquire expensive personal effects. The criticism centered on the perception that her lifestyle was being supported by congregants’ contributions.
In her reaction, Ms. Enenche clarified that the bag at the center of the debate was not purchased by her but was instead a gift. She further stated that most of her clothing and accessories come from sources other than church members, noting, “Ninety-nine per cent of what we wear are gifts.”
She also defended her family’s financial independence from the church, emphasizing that her parents have professional careers outside of their pastoral duties. “My parents are medical doctors,” she explained, adding that “they don’t depend on offering money” for their survival.
