The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) held a ceremonial pull-out at its headquarters in Abalti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos, to honour five retiring Major Generals.
The event, which took place on Friday, was a moment of reflection and celebration of the distinguished careers of the departing officers.
The occasion was marked by a formal ceremony where the retiring officers shared their experiences, recounting the challenges and successes that shaped their years of service in the Nigerian Army. The announcement of the ceremony was made in a press release shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Major General Omotomilola Akintade, who served as the Reviewing Officer for the ceremony, delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of the retiring generals. He reflected on the resilience required throughout their military careers, both in times of conflict and peace, acknowledging the unexpected challenges that arose after their initial training at the Nigerian Defence Academy.
Maj Gen Akintade spoke with pride about his time in the Ordnance Corps, emphasising the importance of loyalty, professionalism, and dedication within the ranks. He urged current personnel to maintain these values and to steer clear of actions that could tarnish the reputation of the Ordnance Corps and the Nigerian Army as a whole.
In his farewell address, Maj Gen Akintade expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian Army for the various opportunities afforded to him and his colleagues, both domestically and internationally. He extended his thanks to the current Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, and his predecessors, praising their efforts in building a strong and capable Ordnance Corps that effectively supports the Nigerian Army during both peaceful and challenging times.
