Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has been awarded the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month for September 2024, following an exceptional run of performances that saw him dominate both goal-scoring and overall goal involvement.
The 22-year-old led the Premier League in September with five goals and one assist in just four appearances. His standout performance came in Chelsea’s stunning 6-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, where he made history by becoming the first player in Premier League history to score four goals in the first half of a match. Palmer’s remarkable four-goal display, which took place over a 21-minute span, demonstrated his clinical finishing and calmness under pressure, etching his name in the record books.
Palmer’s contributions extended beyond the Brighton match. He assisted Chelsea’s only goal in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and scored again during the club’s 3-0 win over West Ham United. His consistent performances throughout the month made him a clear favourite for the Player of the Month award.
This marks Palmer’s second Player of the Month honour, having previously won the accolade in April 2024. His continued form has been evident, with this being his second win in just three months, underscoring his importance to Chelsea’s attacking prowess. He topped an eight-man shortlist, with the public vote on the EA SPORTS website combined with those of a panel of football experts to secure his victory.
Palmer has carried his form into October, already registering an assist in Chelsea’s recent 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. He currently leads the Premier League with 11 goal involvements this season, a remarkable achievement as he looks to build on his success when Chelsea face Liverpool at Anfield on 20 October.
Chelsea FC took to social media to celebrate Palmer’s achievement, posting on X said; “It had to be him. Cole Palmer is the @PremierLeague Player of the Month for September.”
The Premier League also confirmed that the Barclays Manager of the Month award for September will be announced soon, as the league continues to recognise standout performances from its top stars.
Palmer joins Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as the second player to win the Player of the Month award this season, with the Norwegian striker having claimed the accolade for August.
This latest recognition adds to Palmer’s growing list of achievements, which include being named England Men’s Player of the Year for 2024 and winning the Premier League Goal of the Month for August.
Palmer’s remarkable rise continues to make him one of the Premier League’s most exciting young talents.
