Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has reportedly passed away. The news of his death surfaced on social media on Sunday, sparking shock and reactions from Nigerians across different platforms.

Arase, who served as Nigeria’s 18th Inspector-General of Police between April 2015 and June 2016, was widely regarded for his reforms in community policing and efforts to improve the welfare of officers during his tenure.

Although details surrounding his death remain sketchy as of press time, tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues, political leaders, and members of the public who described him as a disciplined officer and a patriotic Nigerian.

Arase, who retired in 2016, was until recently the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), a position he was appointed to in January 2023.
