Commissioner of Police Moshood Oluhundare Jimoh presented 68 suspects to the public yesterday, who were apprehended for a range of serious offenses.
These included murder, involvement in cult activities, kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, and the ‘one chance’ robbery scheme.
The arrests were made at various locations throughout the state.
The suspects are alleged to have been involved in a variety of crimes, including advanced fee fraud, car theft, and instances where they were entrusted with vehicles but subsequently dismantled them and sold the parts.
As a result of these operations, the police have recovered four vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz E350 valued at millions of naira.
Furthermore, the police recovered 17 firearms of different types, including English pistols, Beretta pistols, and AK 49 assault rifles.
They also seized various phones, laptops, and other items believed to be evidence.
These successful outcomes were achieved through well-coordinated and strategically planned operations conducted by the various police squads.
Commissioner Jimoh acknowledged the support of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, crediting him with making policing in Lagos State more effective.
He noted that the IGP’s provision of equipment, logistics, and supervision has been crucial in maintaining peace.
Jimoh also emphasized the command’s preventive strategies in combating crime.
He recalled his promise six months prior to implement diverse crime-fighting strategies and expressed confidence in their effectiveness, stating that Lagosians are now able to conduct their affairs without fear.
