Osun Court Orders Woman to Pay ₦150,000 to Boyfriend Over Failed Visit

A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, has ordered Rhoda Adu to pay ₦150,000 to her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, after she failed to fulfill a promise to visit him despite collecting ₦3,000 as transport fare.

According to court proceedings, the incident began when Sola transferred the money to Rhoda to cover her travel expenses.

However, she reportedly switched off her phone and failed to show up.

Feeling defrauded and emotionally distressed, Sola lodged a complaint at the Ayeso Police Station, leading to Rhoda’s arrest and subsequent arraignment in court.

During the trial, Sola provided evidence, including the mobile money transfer receipt and WhatsApp conversations between him and Rhoda.

In her ruling, Magistrate Akogun Oludare ordered Rhoda to refund the ₦3,000 transport fare. Additionally, she was directed to pay ₦100,000 for breach of agreement and ₦50,000 as special damages for emotional distress.

The court emphasized that the judgment served as a deterrent to others, warning against similar deceptive behavior in relationships.
