Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Public Relations, Barr. Muhammed Isah Onogwu, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the dominant political force in Kogi State and is growing stronger under the influence of former Governor Yahaya Bello.
Onogwu, in a statement on Monday, commended Bello for working closely with stakeholders to reposition the party for what he described as a “formidable outing” in the 2027 general elections.
He noted that Governor Ododo and his predecessor jointly visited former Governor Idris Wada and Hon. Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday in Abuja. The meetings, according to him, centred on peace, unity, and building a stronger political front for the state.
“The APC in Kogi is clearly in control,” Onogwu said, highlighting the party’s grip on the governorship, two of three senatorial seats, seven House of Representatives seats, 24 members of the State Assembly, 21 local government chairmen and 239 councillors.
He added that the party’s strength was again demonstrated with its latest victory in the Assembly by-election, stressing that with the weakening of the PDP, more opposition members are defecting to the APC.
