FG takes step to end grid collapse


The federal government of Nigeria embarks on ways to end the frequent grid collapse that has been leaving the country in darkness recently.

The Federal Government says it is adopting a holistic approach in addressing reoccurring incidents of grid collapse in the power sector.

The assurance to embark on the new recommendations of the investigative committee is coming from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu as the investigative committee submits its report on on the frequent incidents of grid collapse on Thursday 7/11/2024.

Nafisatu Ali, the chairperson of the Investigative Committee on grid collapse said during the meeting that “we should develop framework and reliability centered maintenance replacements of aged equipments”.

Adebayo Adelabu stated that the committee’s recommendations are practical and realistic, emphasizing that grid collapses should no longer be a recurring issue in Nigeria.

The reports indicate that the short-term recommendations are anticipated to be implemented within the next six months to stabilize the country’s electricity supply.
