Falz Addresses VeryDarkMan Allegations and Subsequent Events

Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has responded to allegations of defamation made against him and his family by Nigerian activist and social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), during an appearance on the Afrobeat Podcast.

Falz had previously filed a lawsuit against VDM after the activist publicly accused the rapper of being homosexual. Additionally, VDM alleged that Falz’s father, renowned Nigerian lawyer Femi Falana, helped social media personality Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju (popularly known as Bobrisky), a transgender woman, evade jail time in a case related to naira mutilation earlier this year.

During the podcast, Falz explained that he had advised VDM to publicly address the defamatory remarks, but VDM was unwilling to take the necessary steps to resolve the issue. Falz indicated that he would consider further legal action if the situation remained unresolved.

“You set up your ring light, start talking all this nonsense about me, and you expect me to sit back?” Falz remarked, referring to VDM’s online statements.

He added, “I don’t know much about VeryDarkMan’s activism. I chose not to file a criminal defamation suit against him. He told me to go to court since I’m a lawyer. It was clear he wanted litigation.”

Falz concluded his message to VDM by saying, “If you want trouble, that’s my work,” signaling his readiness to take further legal steps if needed.
