The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, has called on the Federal Government and the Nigerian judiciary to fast track resolution of longstanding legal issues surrounding the church’s Certificate of Incorporation, which has led to decades long internal crisis and factionalisation.
Speaking at the 2025 Pastors’ Conference and Convention held in Ibadan, the President of the church, Pastor Abraham Ayodele, stressed that the dispute ongoing since 1995 has hindered unity and progress within the CAC. The legal battle centres on the ownership and renewal of the church’s Certificate of Incorporation, originally issued in 1943 and renewed in 1985.
“If the issue of the Certificate of Incorporation had been determined in court with fairness, this crisis would have been long resolved,” Pastor Ayodele stated. “We are not asking for favour, but for fairness and justice so that we can carry out our divine assignment without legal distractions.”
He emphasised that unresolved legal matters have continued to affect the spiritual and organisational well-being of the church. With the centenary of CAC approaching in 2030, Ayodele appealed for unity, urging other factions to come together to celebrate the milestone as one body.
“We cannot celebrate 100 years in division. Our divine mandate is to uphold the truth and be a beacon of holiness. Our unity will help usher in the end-time revival promised by God,” he added.
Addressing the conference theme, “Repairing the Altar of the Lord,”Ayodele described it as both “timely and prophetic,” calling on ministers to rekindle their commitment to spiritual integrity and divine purpose.
“As ministers, we must lead by example renewing our personal altars and confronting falsehood, even within the church. We must challenge the prophets of Baal,” he said.
The CAC Supreme Council reaffirmed its commitment to reconciliation based on truth, love, and divine direction, rather than compromise, as it seeks to heal longstanding divisions within the church.
