Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, a prominent leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended congratulations to President Bola Tinubu and all Nigerians as the nation celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, commending the current administration’s reform initiatives as crucial steps toward national progress.
In a formal statement released to the media, Senator Araraume characterized the anniversary as a vital opportunity for deep reflection on Nigeria’s enduring strength, unity, and the shared commitment to forging a more prosperous society. He emphasized the profound meaning of the milestone by stating:
“On the joyous occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, heartfelt congratulations are extended to President Bola Tinubu GCFR and every citizen across our great nation. This milestone offers a timely opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s collective journey, one marked by resilience, unity, and significant progress in the ongoing quest to build a stronger, more prosperous society.”
The APC chieftain praised President Tinubu’s governance, specifically highlighting key policy reforms that he believes are actively reshaping the country’s economic and social framework. These measures include the Renewed Hope Agenda, a variety of fiscal adjustments, programmes focused on youth and education, energy projects, and essential infrastructure development.
Regarding the Renewed Hope Agenda, Araraume explained that its core objectives are centered on economic diversification, job creation, and poverty reduction through initiatives such as the Consumer Credit Corporation and the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund. He also drew attention to the Solarisation Project, which is designed to provide electricity access to more than 25 million Nigerians in rural communities using solar mini-grids and home systems, thus helping to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
On the financial front, he noted that strategic fiscal reforms have successfully reduced the debt service-to-revenue ratio from a high of 97 per cent to a more manageable figure below 50 per cent. He added that resources have been successfully redirected toward developmental projects and the economy stabilized following the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate.
Araraume also acknowledged significant achievements in youth and education development, citing the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he confirmed has disbursed over ₦10 billion in interest-free loans to indigent students. Furthermore, he highlighted the Digital and Creative Enterprises (DICE) scheme, which is actively equipping young citizens with necessary technology and innovation skills.
He continued by pointing to major ongoing infrastructure projects, such as the rehabilitation of over 3,000 kilometres of roads, the fully operational Lagos-Ibadan railway line, and necessary upgrades to key airports and seaports, all aimed at boosting trade and national connectivity. The APC leader also noted reforms within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) that have successfully accelerated infrastructure projects, fostered urban renewal, and created professional development opportunities for civil servants.
In his concluding remarks, Senator Araraume argued that these government actions clearly demonstrate a strong dedication to sustainable development and an inclusive future for all citizens. He then offered a compelling call for collective commitment, asserting that:
