Nigerian singer Shallipopi has sparked debate on social media after advising men especially those from modest backgrounds to steer clear of romantic relationships due to the financial pressure they often bring.
In a strongly worded post, the singer described both relationships and marriage as “financial mistakes” for men who aren’t yet financially secure. He argued that such commitments often derail personal progress, especially for those trying to build a future from scratch.
Shallipopi didn’t mince words, urging young men to consider celibacy and focus on self development instead of chasing love too soon.
He wrote,,“The biggest financial mistake when you and your papa no dey the Top 10 richest in Africa, you go cry, bro. OS na financial mistake, girlfriend na financial mistake. Stay celibate.”
