Niger Police Hunt Four-Man Bank Robbery Gang

The Niger State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a four-man armed robbery gang that allegedly trailed a bank customer in Minna and dispossessed him of money he had withdrawn.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday morning around the Tunga Market area when the unidentified victim left the bank without knowing he was being followed.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers, who were driving an ash-coloured Toyota Camry, double-crossed and blocked the victim’s Mercedes Benz near the City Gate, before carting away an undisclosed amount of money.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, had ordered immediate action to track down the suspects.

“Today, 8th September, 2025, at about 8:45 a.m., a report was received indicating that a robbery occurred around Tunga Market, Minna, where four men in a Toyota Camry, ash in colour, blocked a Mercedes Benz and robbed the occupant of a yet-to-be-ascertained sum of money,” Abiodun stated.

He added that all police patrol teams and divisions were immediately alerted for swift intervention, recovery of the stolen money, and arrest of the culprits.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander, Minna, and the DPO Tudun-Wada Division to ensure a thorough forensic investigation, while the victim has been advised to officially lodge a complaint at the nearest police station,” Abiodun added.
