A fatal accident on Ikorodu Road near Idi-Iroko, Lagos, resulted in the death of one passenger and critical injuries to two others, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
The crash, which occurred on the Agric axis, involved a commercial Mazda bus and a fully loaded truck, reportedly due to a dispute over right of way.
According to eyewitness accounts, the impact ejected a passenger seated near the doorway, who was then fatally crushed by the truck’s wheels.
Following the accident, two additional passengers, a male and a female, suffered serious injuries. They were promptly rescued by officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and transported by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to Ikorodu General Hospital, where they received immediate medical attention.
LASTMA confirmed the accident in a statement. Their officers, along with the Owutu Police, secured the area. They helped with the rescue and moved the vehicles in order to get the road cleared and get traffic moving again.
The police officers transferred the deceased’s remains to his family. Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, conveyed his deepest sympathies to the grieving family.
Furthermore, he appealed to all motorists to demonstrate caution, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility, particularly when navigating high-traffic areas like Ikorodu Road.
