Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has shared a deeply personal story about his past struggles with drug addiction, revealing that he once nearly lost his life to an overdose while studying at the University of Lagos.
In a interview with Taymesan, the artist spoke about how his time in school was marked by both academic brilliance and destructive habits. “I was a very bright student while studying at the University of Lagos. But I was indulging in illicit drugs. One day, I took it and almost died. I called my mother to book my flight to return to Abuja. After that incident, I only took drug once before quitting,” he shared.
The traumatic experience became a turning point for the rapper, who has since abandoned substance use and now uses his platform to speak out against drug abuse. Reflecting on his journey to recovery, Odumodublvck expressed deep gratitude for surviving what many don’t.
“I’m grateful because there are some people that went into that life and they didn’t make it out. Some people didn’t make it alive, some had lost people to it ,they died because of drug abuse. Some even committed suicide due to drug overdose. I’ve seen a pregnant woman and her husband battling drug addiction. It’s really terrible,” he said.
Odumodublvck now stands as an advocate against drug abuse, using his voice to warn others about the deadly consequences of addiction.
