Comfort Emmanson, the woman caught on video assaulting Ibom Air staff during a Uyo–Lagos flight, has been ordered into custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos pending trial.
Her remand follows a court appearance after the incident, which drew widespread outrage online. The Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, confirmed the development in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
“The more reason the flying public should be more careful — the unruly passenger on the Uyo–Lagos bound Ibom Air, Miss Comfort Emmanson, has been charged to court and she’s now cooling off in Kirikiri,” Moshood wrote.
The case comes amid growing concerns over rising incidents of disruptive behaviour at Nigerian airports and onboard flights. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has repeatedly warned that it will strictly enforce regulations against such conduct, which could include arrest, prosecution, and travel bans.
