In a recent social media revelation, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels shared insights into her past relationships before meeting her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North. The actress, who married Nwoko in 2019, disclosed that she had over 20 boyfriends before meeting the politician.
The actress shared a video where Senator Nwoko spoke candidly with friends about her past. He acknowledged that Daniels had numerous suitors, including notable figures such as pastors, oil magnates, and film producers. Despite their efforts to win her favour, Nwoko praised Daniels for maintaining her values, noting that she was a virgin when they married. He expressed gratitude to her mother, Rita Daniels, for her upbringing.
“She is such a gem. Just like she mentioned recently that she had 20 men, yes she did,” Nwoko stated. “She told me there were so many suitors including reverend pastors, oil bunkers, film producers. She told me about them and how they were pampering her, sending her things but she had nothing with any of them and of course by the time we got married she was a virgin. So I thank her mother for the training because she would have turned wayward.”
The senator also recounted his unusual approach to proposing marriage to Daniels, bypassing traditional formalities. He admitted that he initially visited her mother, dressed casually in jeans and a shirt, instead of adhering to cultural expectations. His unconventional proposal faced opposition from Daniels’ family, leading to tensions. Nwoko confirmed that Regina’s family expressed concerns about their union, which led to disagreements after his first visit.
“I went to her mother and told her why I was there. As a traditional man, I am aware I am supposed to go to the father and uncle’s house but I told myself I don’t have time for the formality,” he said. “I like this girl and I am going to make haste but I was told that is not how it’s done and I would have to see the family, so my family and I went back a week later. That day I went in jeans and shirt. When we left her house that day, I heard the family had an issue because someone called me. The person told me Regina’s brothers and mother were fighting her, they broke some glasses and Regina left the house.”
Thereafter, In a caption accompanying the video, Daniels described the conversation as “cute” and expressed delight at hearing Nwoko speak affectionately about her. “Hubby just sent me this really cute video his friend made and I couldn’t help but share,” she wrote. “Honestly, I always love hearing hubby speak about me with so much love especially in my absence.”
The couple, who married in 2019, have since been blessed with two sons, solidifying their relationship amidst public scrutiny and family challenges.
