Public Holiday in Akwa Ibom to Honour Late First Lady

The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, as a public holiday, the holiday honors the late Pastor Patience Eno, wife of Governor Umo Eno.

Her burial will take place on the 29th of November in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local government area

Prince Uwah, Secretary to the State Government, announced this on Wednesday. He said the decision followed consultations with the bereaved family.
This work-free day allows residents to pay their last respects,” Uwah stated. He added that the government wants all Akwa Ibomites to join the final obsequies.

Residents are expected to gather at Ikot Ekpene Udo to honor the late First Lady. Prominent figures and organizations across Nigeria have paid glowing tributes to Pastor Mrs. Patience Eno. Many remembered her as a selfless leader dedicated to uplifting the less privileged.

Women’s groups praised her advocacy for gender empowerment, while faith leaders celebrated her unwavering devotion to spiritual growth. Her humanitarian efforts, particularly in supporting widows and orphaned children, were often highlighted as a testament to her kindness and enduring legacy.
Messages of condolence also flooded social media, with residents sharing heartfelt stories of her positive influence on their lives.
