The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two notorious drug kingpins, Victor Nwosa and Felix Obiegbu, after recovering consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine from their homes in Lagos.
The agency revealed that the suspects were preparing the drugs for export to Europe and beyond. According to the NDLEA, 4.33kg of heroin and 448g of cocaine were recovered from Nwosa’s home at 16 Femi Kila Street, Okota, while 2.902kg of methamphetamine was seized from Obiegbu’s residence at 5 Shada Shonefun Street, Aguda, Surulere.
The agency stated that the suspects were posing as successful businessmen, with Nwosa masquerading as a textile merchant and Obiegbu as a wine distributor.
In other operations, the NDLEA thwarted attempts by suspected suppliers of illicit drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe states.
A total of 39,380 tramadol pills were recovered from a Mercedes-Benz jeep, while 1.4kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, was seized from a woman’s traveling bag.
Several other suspects were arrested in various states, including Kano, Bayelsa, Ekiti, and Kaduna, with significant quantities of drugs seized.The NDLEA has continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns in schools, worship centers, workplaces, and communities across the country.
The agency’s chairman, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), commended the officers and men of the SOU and various commands for their arrests, seizures, and professionalism, urging them to sustain the balanced approach to drug control.
The NDLEA’s recent operations demonstrate the agency’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria from illicit substances that threaten public health and national security.
