Academic and non-academic staff of Lagos State University (LASU) have suspended their two-week strike, clearing the way for academic and administrative activities to restart.
The industrial action, led by the institution’s Joint Action Committee (JAC), had halted lectures, examinations, and other essential services on campus. While the full terms of the agreement between the unions and the university management have not yet been made public, JAC confirmed that staff members will return to duty on Wednesday, August 13.
The strike was reportedly prompted by unresolved welfare issues, outstanding entitlements, and concerns over working conditions. The university’s management has assured stakeholders that efforts are underway to address the grievances raised by staff unions. An official statement from JAC is expected to provide further details.
Students, many of whom were stranded during the industrial action, have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the academic calendar will be restored and future disruptions avoided.
