A suspected kidnapper and murderer, identified simply as David, has confessed to the abduction and killing of his female employer and her child in a chilling interview with Symfoni.
David, who worked as a security guard at the victim’s school, revealed how he and an accomplice, known as Sunday, carefully planned and carried out the gruesome crime. During the interview, which took place between the 5:30 to 6:30-minute mark, David gave a detailed account of how he was lured into the plot by Sunday.
According to him, Sunday had earlier approached him with the idea of identifying wealthy parents whose children could be targeted for kidnapping. David said Sunday assured him that they could extract ransom by killing the victims, since there was no safe place to hold them hostage. Though David claimed he was initially against the plan, he eventually gave in, saying it was his first time gettinginvolved in such a crime.
He recalled how Sunday rented a truck from a man referred to as “Aboki” to help dispose of the victims’ bodies. Describing the killing, David said they used a rope to strangle the child. He also narrated how Sunday hid in the toilet while instructing him to lure the woman out of her classroom.
As soon as she stepped out, Sunday allegedly attacked her from behind and strangled her until she collapsed. David said he was hesitant to bring the baby, but Sunday pressured him, insisting that killing the child would make the ransom demand more serious.
He revealed that the woman had always been kind to him and had even given him ₦300 to buy food on the same day she was murdered. She had also been known to regularly offer him money for meals.
When asked what he wanted from the police, David tearfully said:>
“Sir, what I want the police to do… this thing that I did, I’m regretting it with the whole of my life. I know they will kill me, but parents should tell their children to do away with bad friends and bad people.”
He went on to plead for forgiveness from the families of the victims and from the general public, stating that he had been betrayed by Sunday, who stabbed him and fled after the crime.
The police are continuing their investigation as efforts to apprehend Sunday are reportedly ongoing.
