Tragic Accident Claims 10 Lives on Lagos-Badagry Expressway

A fatal road accident occurred late Tuesday night at the Abule Osun area of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, claiming the lives of 10 people, including three children and seven adults.

The tragedy unfolded when a Toyota Sienna bus collided with a stationary truck around 11 p.m.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Sienna, fully occupied, crashed into a granite-laden truck that had been parked on the road.

According to Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the bus driver failed to notice the truck, which was obstructing half of the roadway.

The impact of the collision was devastating, leaving three others critically injured.

Rescue teams from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and LASEMA responded swiftly to the scene.

The injured, including a female adult and two children, were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. LASEMA’s tow truck later removed the wrecked Sienna from the scene and transported it to the FRSC station.

This heartbreaking incident explains the ongoing concerns about road safety in Nigeria, where reckless driving and negligence continue to result in tragic consequences.

Authorities are being urged to intensify efforts to enforce traffic regulations and improve road infrastructure. Motorists are also reminded to exercise caution and responsibility to help prevent further loss of life on the nation’s roads.
