Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Wednesday visited several communities recently attacked by bandits in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, calling on residents to intensify prayers for lasting peace. The governor’s visit came in the wake of repeated armed attacks and kidnappings that have displaced thousands, especially women and children, across the state.
Accompanied by government officials, Lawal toured Banga, Kurya Madaro, Maguru, Sakajiki, and Kyambarawa communities, where he commiserated with victims and families of those killed. He expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation, stressing that his administration remains committed to working with security agencies and stakeholders to address the crisis. “Security is our number one priority since the inception of our administration,” he said, assuring that a planned road construction in the area would boost both security and socio-economic activities.
In Banga, the governor recalled sending a delegation led by his deputy and the Secretary to the State Government to console residents while he was away. He reiterated his administration’s readiness to implement measures that would promote the safety and welfare of the people. Lawal emphasised that sustainable development cannot take place without peace and security.
During stops at Kurya Madaro, Maguru, and Kyambarawa, the governor urged residents to seek divine intervention against banditry through persistent prayers. In Sakajiki, he pledged to immediately begin work on a road linking the community to the main road, describing it as a step toward improving accessibility, trade, and emergency response in the region.
