Wizkid’s Rise to Global Stardom Documented in “Love Live Lagos”

The life and career of one of Africa’s most iconic musicians, Wizkid, will be the subject of a new documentary titled “Love Live Lagos,” premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival 2025. 

The documentary, directed by Karam Gill, will offer a captivating look at Wizkid’s journey from a Nigerian music star to a global superstar, whose music has broken down barriers and opened doors for African musicians worldwide.

“Love Live Lagos” will be screened at the festival on June 6, 7, and 11, 2025, and features interviews with a range of key figures who have witnessed and contributed to Wizkid’s remarkable ascent. 

These include 5-time Grammy-nominated Afrobeat icon Femi Kuti, Wizkid’s manager and partner Jada Pollock, his long-term manager Sunday Are, Julia Adenuga, and Seni Saraki, among other influential personalities who have worked closely with the Grammy winner.

The documentary promises to be a powerful and insightful exploration of Wizkid’s impact on the global music scene. 

It delves into how his music has not only redefined African music but also changed how Africa is perceived and heard on an international stage. 

On the sidelines of the Festival, Wizkid and Karam Gill will engage in a conversation where the Nigerian megastar will share insights into his illustrious career, offering fans a glimpse into his creative process and the driving forces behind his success.

“Love Live Lagos” marks another impressive feat for Wizkid, whose record-breaking achievements and cultural influence are undeniably worthy of documentation for posterity. 

This new documentary comes five years after he released a short film as part of the promotional materials for the deluxe version of his Grammy-nominated album “Made In Lagos.” 

The Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “Love Live Lagos” is a testament to Wizkid’s enduring impact on the global music landscape. It promises to be a compelling and thought-provoking experience for fans and music enthusiasts alike.
