Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, have thwarted a planned terrorist attack in Taraba State, killing two suspects during a firefight.
In a statement on Wednesday, Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, said the operation was launched on October 1, 2025, following credible intelligence reports that armed bandits were regrouping in Tor-Ikyeghgba village.
The soldiers confronted the terrorists along the powerline axis and engaged them with superior firepower, neutralising two.
Recovered items included a locally made pistol, two dane guns, three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and other materials.
Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their swift and professional response, urging them to sustain the momentum. He reassured residents that the brigade remained fully committed to protecting lives and property across Taraba.
