Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa announced her pregnancy on Instagram, describing it as “the biggest project of my life” and “the highest calling ever.” She shared a heartfelt video cradling her baby bump, expressing gratitude to God for answering her prayers.
However, her joyous news was met with skepticism from some online users. One commenter, identified as “ninistrends,” questioned the authenticity of Makinwa’s pregnancy, suggesting it might be artificial or involve a surrogate. The comment read:
“Why do I feel it’s artificial, and lowkey surrogate? But whoever tf, I’m feeling congratulations to her.”
The remark quickly garnered backlash from fans and fellow celebrities. Nollywood actresses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham responded with strong disapproval. Abraham expressed her outrage by cursing the troll, while Akindele simply commented, “Olori buruku,” a Yoruba phrase meaning “you are cursed.”
Singer Tiwa Savage took a more measured approach, urging the commenter to delete the post for the sake of peace. She commented, “You should probably delete your comment. Please just delete.”
Despite the celebrities’ calls for the comment’s removal, it remained online for several hours, continuing to attract negative reactions from other social media users. Many expressed their disappointment over the troll’s insensitivity, with some questioning the motives behind such comments.
Makinwa’s pregnancy announcement has since been met with an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, celebrating her upcoming journey into motherhood.
