Political tensions flared in Lagos over the weekend following a violent disruption at a church event in Alimosho Local Government Area, where members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were allegedly attacked by suspected political thugs linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The incident occurred shortly after prominent opposition figure Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections, publicly declared his membership with the ADC during the event.
Eyewitnesses reported that the peaceful gathering at a local church turned chaotic when a group of unidentified assailants stormed the premises, causing injuries, damaging property, and forcing attendees to flee for safety.
