The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a man, identified as Usman Mohammed, following a road accident in Ikirun on Tuesday.
The crash occurred near the Oja Oba market along the busy Ikirun–Iree–Ila Road, leaving three others injured and hospitalised.
Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, told The PUNCH that the accident involved a truck loaded with granite and a motorcycle. According to him, the truck driver lost control after a brake failure, striking the motorcyclist before veering off the road into a roadside shop. Four people were caught in the crash.
“Unfortunately, one Usman Mohammed, who was standing by the roadside, died in the accident,” Ojelabi said. “The three others sustained varying degrees of injury and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.”
Ojelabi urged road users to be vigilant and adhere to safety regulations, assuring that the command remains committed to enforcing road safety measures.
