Prince Abiola Kosoko, the recently elected Oloja of Lagos, has filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Oba of Lagos and several senior police officials at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The legal action, which also names representatives of the Olumegbon Ajah Chieftaincy Family as co-defendants, stems from what Kosoko describes as ongoing harassment and unlawful interference with his rights and traditional position.
Central to the dispute is the contested Ogombo land and the succession process for the Oloja of Lagos title. The case, which has stirred renewed attention around traditional authority in Lagos, highlights tensions between ruling houses and external influence in chieftaincy matters.
As at the time of this report, no official date has been fixed for the hearing. The matter is expected to raise broader questions about the role of law enforcement in inter-family traditional disputes and the autonomy of local institutions in handling heritage titles.
