The Kwara state government has directed public sector workers who have yet to register with the Kwara State Residents’ Registration Agency (KWSRRA) to do so immediately.
The state government has issued a warning to workers who fail to obtain a valid resident registration number, threatening to withhold their salaries or bonuses from November if they do not comply.
This was disclosed in a press release by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nura and signed by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Babatunde Abdulrasheed on Monday.
Nura recalled that the registration exercise started many months ago.
According to Nura, the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) is empowered by law to have relevant data of everyone resident in the state and allocate unique identities to each person for effective planning, resource management, service delivery, and public safety, among others.
“In line with the administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency in resource administration, a directive had since been issued mandating all state employees, including those across the 16 local government areas, to complete their registration KWSRRA.
“Effective November 2024, workers who have not registered will not receive salary payments or bonuses.
“The KWSRRA registration is a vital step toward establishing a comprehensive and accurate database that enables us to serve Kwara State residents more effectively.” The statement reads.
She also urged all state employees who have not registered to visit the nearest KWSRRA registration centre to complete their enrollment, stating that the state is working to establish a more efficient and equitable system for it’s workforce and residents.
