Ibas Meets Tinubu, EFCC Boss at Aso Rock

Former Rivers State administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), on Wednesday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He was received alongside the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

Ibas, who left office on September 17 after six months in charge of Rivers State, arrived at the Villa around 6 p.m. and was ushered in by Edun and Olukoyede. Although details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, sources said it was linked to his stewardship during the emergency rule in the oil-rich state.

The visit comes days after the Rivers House of Assembly announced plans to probe government spending under Ibas’ tenure. Available data show that Rivers received at least N254.37bn in federal allocations between March and August 2025, averaging over N42bn monthly.

Ibas exited office after Tinubu ended the six-month emergency rule and reinstated Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and lawmakers.
