Veteran Nigerian music star, Alexander Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has revealed a harrowing experience in which he vomited blood for over five months—an ordeal he believes was the result of a spiritual attack.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Nancy Isime Show, the “Gongo Aso” hitmaker shared that the incident occurred around 2009/2010 and left him shaken and confused, as medical professionals were unable to diagnose or treat the condition.
When host Nancy Isime asked if he had ever encountered spiritual battles during his career, 9ice responded affirmatively and went on to recount the most unforgettable episode.
“In 2009/2010, I was vomiting blood for about six months in my own house,” he said. “It wasn’t a medical condition. I went for tests and scans, but nothing was found. I had to eventually leave my house.”
According to the singer, all medical interventions failed, and it wasn’t until he sought help through Ifa—the Yoruba system of divination—that his health was restored.
The revelation adds to a growing list of Nigerian entertainers who have shared personal stories of spiritual challenges in the course of their careers.
