The controversy surrounding K1 De Ultimate’s recent Abuja airport drama has taken a new turn, with the musician’s daughter, Damilola Marshal, firing back at aviation authorities over their handling of the incident.
In a strongly worded Instagram post, she defended her father, insisting that he was the victim of false accusations.
The trouble began when the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) accused K1 De Ultimate of attempting to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos with an alcoholic beverage in his flask, a clear violation of aviation rules.
However, K1 De Ultimate’s camp vehemently denied the claims, stating that the flask contained only water.
Damilola Marshal questioned the credibility of the aviation agencies involved, writing:
“I don’t know why a reputable agency would lie that water is alcohol. I don’t know when K1 became a magician who turns water into alcohol. With the same flask, all of a sudden, everyone is pretending as if they don’t know he carries his water in his flask everywhere.”
The incident has had significant repercussions, with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) blacklisting K1 De Ultimate for six months and suspending two ValueJet pilots.
Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo also weighed in, describing the alleged conduct as “unacceptable” and potentially dangerous.
Damilola Marshal’s statement follows an earlier assertion by her father’s spokesperson, Kunle Rasheed, that FAAN, NCAA, and ValueJet’s top executives apologized to K1 De Ultimate in private after discovering the truth. The spokesperson had also described the claims against K1 De Ultimate as “exaggerated and misleading.”
