The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) will on Monday, February 2, 2026, mark its 4th Founder’s Day with a series of activities highlighting the institution’s development since its establishment as a university.
The event, scheduled to hold at the College of Agriculture Main Auditorium, Ikorodu Campus, will feature a Founder’s Day Lecture to be delivered by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, FAS, FNISEB, FNSBMB. Her lecture is titled “Achieving the Objectives of Universities of Science and Technology.”
The 2026 Founder’s Day Celebration is themed “Mapping the Future,” a reference to the university’s mandate in science, technology, and innovation. According to the programme outline, the day will also include interactive sessions, activities reflecting institutional milestones, and a guided tour of infrastructure projects within the campus.
LASUSTECH emerged in 2022 following the conversion of Lagos State Polytechnic to a university. The establishment was approved and signed into law by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, in line with the state government’s policy on expanding technical and scientific higher education.
The university is headed by its pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya. Academic activities began with 37 programmes across five colleges, namely the College of Agriculture, College of Engineering Technology, College of Environmental Design and Technology, College of Basic Sciences, and College of Applied Social Sciences.
Currently, LASUSTECH runs 42 accredited academic programmes. It received its Certificate of Operating License from the National Universities Commission on February 8, 2022, and admitted its first set of students in the 2022/2023 academic session.
The Founder’s Day event is part of ongoing efforts to review the institution’s progress and outline future academic and infrastructural directions.
