‘Save This Tweet’ — El-Rufai Responds to Political Exit Claim

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has responded to a social media post suggesting that his political career is over, declaring that he is not done and asking critics to wait until March 1, 2027.

An X user with the handle @Archimeokey, identified as Eureka, had posted on Thursday:

“El-Rufai is gone. He is finished politically. He now hides behind other people’s ink to write and their mouth to talk. The big mouthed El-Rufai can’t talk anymore.”

Reacting through his verified X account @elrufai, the former governor dismissed the claim and wrote:

“In your dreams…….when the time comes for me to speak, you will eat your words…..save this tweet, and check on 1st March, 2027 in sha Allah.”

The post has drawn attention online, with many interpreting El-Rufai’s response as a signal of his possible return to active politics.

El-Rufai, who governed Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 and previously served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has kept a relatively low profile since leaving office, following controversies surrounding his ministerial screening.

His latest comment comes amid ongoing speculation about his political plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
