Eunice Asuelie , a mother of a 15 year old girl has been arrested in Delta state for allegedly sex trafficking her young daughter after forcing the daughter to a suspected sex trafficker in an hotel.
According to punch newspapers, the little girl escaped from the suspected sex trafficker and stayed with her classmate family in an area called Effurun after her escape.
Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, a human right activists said the girl has been released to the proprietress of Triumphal Model school in Effurun after the mother has been nabbed and in the custody of the police.
He said ” we were at the Trafficking department of the state criminal investigation department in Asaba, Delta state police headquarters on Friday for interview. I was among those interviewed by the police. This case highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking and exploitation in Nigeria with many victims lured into exploitation through false promises of employment or better life”.
The spokesperson of the police command in Delta state , Bright Edafe also confirmed the arrest of the mother and promises thorough investigation into the matter.
