The Lagos State Government has recorded another milestone in its human capacity development drive as more than 5,300 residents successfully completed the State’s skill acquisition programme.
The graduates were trained in various vocational fields, including fashion design, welding, carpentry, cosmetology, and other practical trades aimed at promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship.Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to combine their newly acquired skills with discipline, perseverance, and integrity.
He emphasised that these qualities are essential for sustaining and growing any venture.
“Our administration is committed to creating opportunities, and we will continue to invest in initiatives like this,” the Governor said.
“Some graduates will start small businesses, while others will expand existing ones. Each now has the tools and responsibility to create something meaningful for themselves and for others.”
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of their training to establish enterprises that could grow into globally recognised brands, noting that many international success stories began with a single skill and a clear purpose.
The skill acquisition programme is part of the Lagos State Government’s broader strategy to reduce unemployment, empower residents, and boost the local economy through entrepreneurship and innovation.
