Victor Osimhen’s header saves the Super Eagles from defeat in the hands of Benin in a 1-1 stalemate draw between both sides, with the Galatasaray goal poacher delivering a well executed header in the Eighty-third minute.
Nigeria currently sits in first place with 11 points in Group D of the AFCON Qualifiers and tonight’s draw saw them maintain their unbeaten run in the group stages.
Benin on the other hand are also doing well in the group as they currently sit in second place with 7 points two points away from Rwanda and three away from Libya.
Going into the match Nigeria were the heavy favorites to go on and win but Benin’s goal in the 16th minute stunned the Eagles before finally equalizing in the 83rd minute of the game and also saw the game ending in a draw with Victor Osimhen named as the Man of The Match.
Nigeria dominated Benin in possession with 68% of ball possession however Benin registered 12 shots compared to Nigeria’s 5 with both countries getting only 2 shots each on target in the space of 90 minutes.
