The Federal Government has revealed that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated a record-breaking N3.7 trillion in revenue during the first half of 2025 outperforming both its budgeted targets and previous year’s results.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, disclosed the figures at the 62nd meeting of the NCS Board in Abuja. According to him, the half-year performance represents a 12.5% increase over the 2025 budget estimates and a 25% rise compared to the same period in 2024.
While praising the agency’s performance, Edun emphasized the need for deeper reforms to meet the administration’s broader revenue goals. He stressed that the upcoming National Single Window platform a digital trade facilitation system set for rollout in 2026 will be key to boosting efficiency and investor confidence.
“The National Single Window will give Customs the speed and capacity to process trade more effectively, boosting revenue and positioning Nigeria as a more attractive hub for investment,” Edun said.
He added that the system will significantly reduce costs and delays in import-export activities, eliminate red tape, and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade. The platform is expected to improve ease of doing business, particularly for private sector operators.
Edun further noted that Customs reforms are aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda, which focuses on stabilising inflation, strengthening the naira, and modernising public institutions to drive sustainable growth.
The Customs Board also used the meeting to confirm new appointments and promotions, signalling efforts to enhance governance, maintain professionalism, and build institutional capacity within the agency.
