The Kwara State Government has endorsed the immediate admission of Visually Impaired Girls into Queen Elizabeth Secondary School with Free Education, Accommodation, and Feeding.On Thursday, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, announced a new initiative in Ilorin designed to improve educational inclusivity.
According to Olohungbebe, the policy demonstrates the government’s commitment to lowering the number of children not attending school within the state.
The initiative, as stated by Olohungbebe, is in line with the United Nations SDG 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education for everyone, regardless of any form of discrimination or obstacles to learning.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was quoted by the commissioner, saying that the decision is a significant move to ensure every child in Kwara has access to education.“Every child, irrespective of any physical challenges, deserves access to quality education and opportunities,” AbdulRazaq said.
