“In England they wanted to put me in a box” – Romelu Lukaku reveals.

Former Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku had expressed in an interview that the club he play for, known as Chelsea wanted him to be alone within the opponent’s box.

He disclosed this, In a recent interview with friendsofsport a popular podcast. He said “In England, they wanted to put me in a box. They see someone built like me and think ohh new Drogba, I’m not like that. Didier was more back to goal, he could hold up the ball no matter where you play it in from. That wasn’t my style” he narrated.

The Belgian international who is more of a physical player compared to Didier Drogba’s versatility publicly stated that the style of football they wanted him to play was not his style because Drogba could control the ball from anywhere and he was not as great at controlling the ball as Drogba and that’s why he didn’t want to stay in the box as required.

However he has achieved great feats under Italian boss Antonio Conte at Roma winning the Golden boot and other honors under him and now that he has been reunited with Conte at Napoli he has been putting up numbers for the club in 5 games he already has 3 goals and 4 assists at Napoli.
