NANS President, Comrade Olushola Ladoja, has appointed former Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of Lagos State Polytechnic, Comrade Surakat Muftaudeen, as the Director of Campus Intervention and Training.
The appointment, announced in an official press release, is part of the national body’s renewed commitment to student welfare, protection of rights, and the advancement of non-academic development across Nigerian campuses.
Reacting to the appointment, Comrade Surakat described the role as a platform to redefine student leadership and empowerment in line with 21st-century demands.
“Our goal is to prepare students for life beyond the certificate,” he said. “This office will drive professional training, skills acquisition, symposiums, and other forms of capacity building to ensure holistic development for Nigerian students.”
He emphasized that the directorate will work closely with stakeholders, institutions, and parastatals — including the Nigeria Police — to implement interventions that benefit students nationwide.
“We’re open to innovation, ideas, and partnerships that can contribute to building a better future for students,” Surakat added.
The appointment has received widespread commendation, especially from LASPOTECH students and alumni, who describe Surakat as a proactive leader with a clear passion for student progress.
Programs under the new directorate are expected to kick off soon, with a focus on inclusivity, skills development, and practical training for students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
